We are at the last sunday before Lent. Annette will be talking about Jesus' Transfiguration and gives us her thoughts on the origins of Valentines Day. We are very grateful to Polly Carpenter-O'Driscoll , Churchwarden at Diddington, for kindly reading the gospel (Mark Chapter 9 vs 2-9) and to Angela Ellmer from Southoe who makes beautiful porcelain flowers and shows us two of the red roses she has made for Valentine's Day in order to raise money for cancer research. Thank you to both.
This week, in her mid-week fortnightly worship, Mel tells us about St Scholastica (the sister of St Benedict, of monasteries fame). Here is the link to the service and the service sheet to accompany it.
Here is this weeks' Keeping in Touch newsletter for Sunday 7th February 2021 which accompanies this weeks' Sunday Service. This newsletter includes all current updates regarding St James Church and the churches in our Benefice.
This is the second Sunday before Lent and this week Annette features Holy Trinity Church and is joined by Ursula, from Great Paxton, who kindly reads The Gospel - John, Chapter 1 vs 1-14; the deeply mysterious and poetically beautiful prologue from St John's Gospel. We are also fortunate that Daisy, Ursula's daughter, plays her guitar and sings beautifully, and with deep feeling, 'Morning Has Broken' . A very big thank you to Ursula and Daisy for participating in our service.
